1. A) Bulk Movement Is The Overall Movement Of A Fluid. The Molecules Essay 1. a) Bulk development is the general development of a liquid. The atoms all move a similar way. Dispersion anyway is the irregular development of atoms which normally brings about a genuinely even circulation. As such the development isn't ensured to move one way however the likelihood that it will move in the lower slope is more noteworthy. Assimilation is like dissemination yet is separated by the layers conduct. The cell film allows water to move from higher to bring down focuses yet doesn't permit solutes do that. b) Water potential is the limit of water to move to a from a locale where there is high water potential to low water potential. This activity occurs without the effect of outside powers. When outside activities due happen and they give water a high potential vitality than the water will move to the locale where less potential vitality is. Hydrostatic weight is the compel required to stop water the development of water. This is a strategy for estimation. The osmotic potential is the proportion of inclination of water to travel through a layer which contains an answer. This happens when a cell doesn't permit a hypertonic answer for leave the cell film. The cell starts to increment with water however the cell film can not discharge the arrangement and in this way the water potential inside the cell increments. This makes the water no longer enter the cell. c) Hypotonic is less solute to a specific measure of water. Hypertonic is more solute to a specific measure of water. Isotonic is the equivalent measure of solutes in two distinct arrangements. d) Endocytosis is the internal lump causes by approaching particles. Exocytosis is the ousting of a material outside a cell. e) Phagocytosis is where the cell gets strong issue. This is not quite the same as the pinocytosis where the cell gets fluid issue. These both are endocytic forms. Receptor-interceded endocytosis is where there are associations between a material and receptor locales on the cell. In this procedure the cell acknowledges the material on the off chance that it matches with the receptor destinations. f) Coated pits are territories which fringe proteins indent the layer. This is the place the vesicles for specific materials are framed. The vesicle which is framed is known as the covered vesicle. g) Plasmodesmata are the connections which hold two contiguous cells together. Hole intersections are the channels which permit materials to stream between cells. 2. The fixation angle is the distinction in the thickness of a material starting with one district then onto the next area. The fixation inclination influences dispersion by permitting the substance to spill out of high focus to low fixation. The fixation angle influences assimilation by a similar way it does in dissemination. The phone doesn't permit the answer for leave the phone when water is entering. This keeps the arrangement in the cell making the fixation high and hence no further entrance of water. 4. Dissemination is progressively quick in gases since they are less thick than fluids. They repulse each other all the more bringing about quicker dissemination. Dispersion is more prominent at higher temperatures in view of the more prominent dynamic vitality among the atoms. They push each other additionally making them less thick. 5. The convergence of the solute is 1%. This happens in light of the fact that a 1% sugar arrangement is isotonic with that of the 1% sugar arrangement in the cylinders. The 2% sugar arrangement was expanded in light of the fact that the substance was hypertonic. The layer didn't permit the hypertonic answer for exit in light of the fact that the weight from the hypotonic arrangement was constraining water in. This later arrived at a harmony when the hypertonic arrangement was picking up water potential and the water quit rising. The other way around occurred in the refined water arrangement.

Criminal Justice and Deviance Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Criminal Justice and Deviance - Essay Example The reason of this is an announcement given by Congressman Hutchinson, expressing that â€Å"Having lost its social shame, liquidation ‘convenience’ filings have become an apparatus to maintain a strategic distance from money related commitments as opposed to a proportion of last resort.† (cited in Thorne and Anderson, 2006, 147). This was additionally upheld by Efrat (2005: 481), who ascribed the reducing of disgrace to the way that â€Å"American culture may have built up a progressively uplifting disposition towards the person that was showed by not so much outrage but rather more compassion for the situation of the individual.† Thus, if the hypothesis is to be followed, there was no more disgrace to be had in light of the acknowledgment of the individuals who defaulted from obligations. The discoveries of Thorne and Anderson, nonetheless, seem to propose something else. Actually, rather than survey individual liquidation as simply a result of reasonable monetary decision and a methodology to stop installment of mounting obligation, the individuals who petition for financial protection wind up facing defamation and segregation. Evidence of this is their craving to hide their liquidation from relatives and partners whom they feel would be condemning of what they see to be their monetary blunder. To cite: Virtually every borrower whose guardians were all the while living attempted to retain information on the chapter 11 from them. More established borrowers whose guardians had died remarked that on the off chance that they knew, they'd turn in their graves. One lady, whose father was visiting when the analyst showed up for the meeting, almost pushed the questioner off the front strides out of dread (as she clarified later) that if her dad saw the specialist, he would pose perplexing inquiries and possibly learn of the chapter 11. In the event that one glances at shame as the social cheapening or purposeful distance of a person who go es astray from a conduct standard, such social standard being â€Å"a shared conviction of a specific social unit that people should act with a specific goal in mind under certain circumstances† (Stafford and Scott (1986: 81), at that point it is genuinely evident that when something gets normal, or when there are sufficient people who petition for financial protection, it stops to be an explanation behind disgrace. A similarity could be pre-marriage sex. Previously, there were not many individuals who occupied with pre-marriage sex and subsequently it was a shame. Be that as it may, presently, in light of the fact that it had gotten genuinely normal, there was no motivation to feel demonized or embarrassed. Fay, Hurst and White (2002: 708) additionally proposed that families declare financial insolvency when it turns out to be monetarily advantageous for them to do as such. This paper contends be that as it may, that vilification despite everything influences the individuals who petition for financial protection. The observational information collected by Thorne and Anderson demonstrate this, so do Sutton and Callahan who said that even firms experience defamation. â€Å"The bankrupt firms we examined were regularly avoided by individuals from their authoritative crowds. The pioneers we met were harmed and embarrassed.(1987: 406)†. The explanation is basic: regardless of how regular destitution is, it despite everything causes derision. Chapter 11 means that neediness. It means that failure to take care of one’s obligations. Regardless of whether there are many individuals doing it, it is still is a reason for disgrace when one concedes in legitimate archives that the person is requesting to be lawfully released from obligations contracted. Since youth, individuals have been modified yearn for towards thriving and a specific lifestyle. Liquidation is a sign that that goal has not been met and that,

Education in Jane Eyre and Mrs. Warrens Profession - Literature Essay Samples

With the advent of sophisticated industrial machinery and colonialism on a grand scale in previously unheard lands during the Victorian period came a thirst for knowledge. Accordingly, the purpose and value of education, which involved the acquisition of knowledge and the inculcation of social values, was a major concern of Victorian writers. By examining Charlotte Brontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s Jane Eyre and George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs Warren’s Profession, this essay will examine three areas of similarity between the authors’ views of education. Both texts portray education as an avenue to increased social respectability. However, both texts also view this respectability as a mask for hypocrisy. Both texts also portray education as an avenue for perpetuating gender inequality. Education was viewed as a pathway for the individual to acquire greater respectability in the eyes of society. This was because education was seen to impart the discretion and intellectual prowess necessary to interact with men and women of higher social status. This perception is masterfully demonstrated by Shaw in the polemic between Mrs Warren and Vivie. Vivie is stunned when her mother tells her that she is ‘taught wrong on purpose’ and her mother elaborates in response that Vivie was ‘taught at school and college to think right and proper’ but this ‘is only a pretence, to keep the cowardly slavish common run of people quiet.’ Here, Shaw’s polemic reminds audiences of the way in which discretion is used to avoid offending society. Education thus uses this ‘right and proper’ thought to teach an individual discretion which engenders respect. Evidently, however, Shaw is sceptical about this ‘pretence’ of respect ability, which hypocritically disguises social ills. Thus, Shaw exposes the hypocrisy of Victorian education even as he admits that it trains individuals to be respectable members of society. Similarly, Jane Eyre presents education as a tool to acquire a questionable social respectability. Instead of using polemic, Brontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s first person narrative juxtaposes Mr. Brocklehurst’s treatment of Lowood’s women with his treatment of his own daughters to draw out the hypocritical nature of education. Mrs Reed does ‘†quite approve†Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ of how ‘†quiet and plain’† the girls look, almost like ‘†poor people’s’† children. This dialogue reveals that the education of women is intended to help them become respectable by cultivating modesty. However, Mr Brocklehurst’s daughters themselves wear clothes ‘trimmed with ermine,’ a royal material, and ‘false French curls.’ Brontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s apt choice of the word ‘false’ calls the reader’s attention to the falsity of Brocklehurst’s purported belief in modesty for the poor girls of Lowood. It is false because he is perfectly fine with his genteel daughters wearing extravagant clothes. This suggests that men of power like Brocklehurst use education to teach the poor that modesty is respectable, so that they would not aspire to the success of gentility and wealthy society. Hence, Jane Eyre shows that the ‘respectability’ of education is often used to create a false consciousness of subservience in poor or common people. This echoes Shaw’s earlier message. Hence, education in the Victorian era was a means to promoting respectability which in fact was intended to mask class and material inequity. Similarly, both texts portray education as a mask for gender inequality. In the eyes of both Shaw and Brontà «, education serves to justify and perpetuate the superior status of men over women. In Mrs Warren’s Profession, Vivie makes sharp and sardonic commentary on the inequality perpetuated by education. For instance, Vivie responds to Praed that his idea of ‘maidenly reserve’ is a ‘frightful waste of time†¦ Especially women’s time.’ This sardonic commentary spoken by Vivie is Shaw’s critique of society’s view of educated women as modest and reserved. To him, this limits their potential. In the play, this idea is reinforced by the social backdrop of Vivie ‘tieing’ with the Third Wrangler at Cambridge but ironically being unable to replace him because she is a woman. This demonstrates the glass ceiling placed by the education system on women. Similarly, the inequality perpetuated by education is critiqued by Br ontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s use of the introspective narrator. Jane silently rebels against the barrier society places on her knowledge. Her thoughts that it is ‘narrow minded†¦to say that they ought to’ be confined to ‘making puddings and knitting stockings’ instead of learning ‘more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex’ has two effects. First, it directly critiques the limits on women’s education. Second, the introspective narration demonstrates that women are sufficiently intelligent to critique the system and desire more intellectual growth than it can provide. By giving the reader greater insight into Jane’s thoughts, Brontà « thus caricatures the standard justifications for society’s lowly education of women. Hence, both texts view education as a perpetuator of gender inequality. In conclusion, Jane Eyre and Mrs Warren’s Profession both view education as a means to social respectability. However, they also portray education as a mask for hypocrisy and a purveyor of gender inequality. It tells us much about the nature of the Victorian period that two texts separated by a few decades continue to portray the same message about education.

The research indicates that doctoral education varies and is experienced inversely amongst the different disciplines. In examining the diversity among the disciplines, culture and framework influenced the faculty members’ conceptions of doctoral success. In addition, a common ground was established between departments directly related to institutional effects mainly focused on ranking, status, and funding o bservations. Haotong Ma University of Colorado Denver College of Liberal Arts and Sciences PSCI 4615-001 Professor Steve Thomas 05/03/15 Ma 1 The Civil War of China: Why Communist Party Defeat Nationalists? In 2005AD, Lian Zhan, the president of Chinese Nationalist Party from Taiwan visited mainland of China and had a conversation with Hu Jintao, the general secretary of Chinese Communist Party. This conversation was the first time between two parties over about 60 years after the burst of civil war in 1946. These two parties, historically speaking, changed the future process of China and the life of Chinese people. However, most history fans and Chinese people have a question in their mind, which is why Communist Party who was relative weak side can defeat the strong Nationalists in the civil war? In my opinion, this historical question is associated with the national situation at that time, positions of two parties respectively and two most influential leaders of two parties, Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek. In this article, I will talk about my personal opinions about this topic associated with above aspects. Before talking about the reasons why CCP defeated KMT, let’s have an understanding of background of society situation of China before the burst of civil war. The Effects Of Homework On Student Success - 1492 Words

Another pro of homework is that it has been linked to higher student achievement. â€Å"Duke University Professor Harris Cooper and his research team identified 35 studies that found a positive correlation between homework and achievement, but only after elementary school† (Fuglei). Younger students are less capable of fully reaping the benefits of homework because their study habits are not completely developed yet, among other reasons. However, older students have greatly benefited from homework when it comes to their test scores. Dr. Cooper again stated that â€Å"Across five studies, the average student who did homework had a higher unit test score than the students not doing homework† (Fuglei). However, those against homework disagree with these claims, and hold the opinion that homework is unrelated to student success. They attribute higher tests scores and other achievement to other factors, not homework. Another pro is that homework allows teachers to gauge how well students are understanding the material, and then modify instruction as needed. Teachers can also identify struggling students through their homework performance and provide more assistance for them. This way, students won’t feel like they are being singled out or feel embarrassed for not fully grasping the material. Homework also serves as a reference for teachers during parent-teacher conferences (â€Å"The Good Schools Guide†). From Childhood to Adulthood in Updikes AP Essay

From Childhood to Adulthood in Updikes AP Sammy is stuck in that difficult transition between childhood and adulthood. He is a nineteen-year-old cashier at an AP, the protagonist in a story with the same name. John Updike, the author of AP, writes from Sammys point of view, making him not only the main character but also the first person narrator. The tone of the story is set by Sammys attitude, which is nonchalant but frank--he calls things as he sees them. There is a hint of sarcasm in Sammys thoughts, for he tends to make crude references to everything he observes. Updike uses this motif to develop the character of Sammy, as many of these references relate to the idea of play. Sammy is no longer a child, but much of†¦show more content†¦Sammys play continues as he his eyes follow the three girls around the store, and he notes the way that the one he has named Queenie is definitely the leader. She would buzz to the other two, who kind of huddled against her for relief (28). Sammy sees this as a game of follow-the-leader as well as a game of hide-and-seek, because, as Queenie led them, the other two [would] peek around and make their shoulders round (27). Sammy is shallow and sexist in the way he has named these young women according to his first impression of their bodies and behaviors. Patrick W. Shaw notes that Sammy knows what is on each aisle in the store and constantly thinks of what is inside bottles, cans, and jars; but he has no idea what is inside the girls, no sensitivity to their psychology or sexual subtlety. His awareness stops with their sweet cans and ice-cream breasts (322). Sammy further demonstrates his childishness and chauvinism by commenting on the mental abilities of the girls: You never know for sure how girls minds work (do you really think its a mind in there or just a little buzz like a bee in a glass jar?) (27). This comment ironically lets the reader know more about the way Sammys mind works. Shaw agrees, suggesting that Sammys mind is even less than a bee in a jar (322). Sammy is still absorbed in thinking about the games he played as a cild and maybe even in the present. Emerson Drive - Countrified free essay sample

As the song says â€Å"everybody needs some†, Emerson Drive. Their newest C.D â€Å"Countrified† is a great C.D with awesome songs. This is the best C.D I have heard by them. The Emerson Drive C.D â€Å"Countrified† has eleven songs, most of which are upbeat and fast. Three songs are two of their new ones on the radio, â€Å"Moments†, and â€Å"You Still Own Me†. It also include their version of â€Å"Devil Went Down to Georgia†, originally by Charly Daniels. Comparing it to most country music, this is highly original. It is more modern then most country and generally upbeat. As I state this , an example is break-up songs. On this C.D there is a fast pace, up beat, break-up song, called â€Å"Painted to Much of This Town†, and compared to things like Racal Flatts â€Å"What Hurts the Most† this is extremely upbeat. One of my favorite songs on this C. We will write a custom essay sample on Emerson Drive Countrified or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page D, is track one, â€Å"A Good Man†. This song is about what a guy wants, his dream, as it says â€Å"My dreams arent that complicated. I wanna be the one when all is said and done, who lived a good life loved a good wife and always helped some one in trouble. On the day they lay me down, I want everyone to gather round and say he was a father, brother, neighbor, and a friend. He was a good man.† This is a very positive, upbeat, fast song and compared to most country music this is very unique. â€Å"You Still Own Me†, is the newest song on the radio, and track five on this C.D. This song is an upbeat, fast, love song which is strange because most love songs in country music are very slow, such as Trisha Yearwoods â€Å"Thinkin About You†. This is a change which makes the song very good. This is about a guy saying no matter where he goes or what he does the girl still owns all of his love, like it says â€Å"I can go were I wanna go, do what I wanna do, say what I wanna say, but baby, you still own me.† My least favorite song is â€Å"Countrified Soul†. I dont like the words to this song and it gets very annoying. It is an upbeat song with random word choice, for example one part of the chorus is â€Å"moonshine, down home party time, liven loose and letting go, and keep my countrified soul†, that I extremely dislike. The only good thing about it is that it is highly original. The last song on the C.D, is Emerson Drives version of â€Å"Devil Went Down to Georgia†. This is a good song, but not when they sing it. They messed with a part when the devil was playing the fiddle. They added piano/ keyboard and made it sound really weird. I wanted to hear it when I read it was there on the back of the case, but after I heard it, it was†¦never again Overall this is a good C.D, but some songs are really annoying. Generally with this C.D if you dont like a song you will absolutely hate it. I recommend this to Emerson Drive fans, country music fans, and actually also Racal Flatts fans. Out of 1-5 stars I give it 41/2.

Plant and the Society Food Chain

Question: Describe the Plant and the Society for Food Chain. Answer: Look Back Importance of plants in society and food chain is the two selected topics for this research paper and both these topics have been taught in the class room. However, it is required to mention that there were almost 4 topics that were taught in the classroom and among these all, I have enjoyed these two above mentioned topics largely. Elaborating the topic It can be stated that for all forms of life, plants generate the basic food staples and this is one of the basic reasons that why plants are essential in the society. Apart from that, he plants are the major sources of oxygen and food on the globe, since no other animal is capable to supply the necessary components without the plants (globalissues.org, 2016). The second topic is food chain, as it is one of the well known facts that every living being required energy to live and a simple food chain demonstrates how each living thing gets food as well as how nutrients and energy gets transmitted from one living organism to another. Therefore, it is understood that both these topics are useful enough to discuss and thus the selection of these two topics are justified enough (Likens, 2013). Analyzing the topic I have found that the both the classes were interesting enough and among the four discussed topics, I liked the importance of plants if the society and food chain the most. Food chains were highly interesting for me and I enjoyed the lectures on this topic highly. I have learnt several types of food chains, especially who eats what and this was interesting enough to me (Rahman, Hasegawa Lim, 2012). However, it is required to mention that famine detailed discussion on nutrition as well has interested me a lot and I have come to know a lot about this part. However, it is required to mention that the discussion of monosaccharide, disaccharides and polysaccharides were not highly interesting to me and this part was quite boring (Cedervall et al., 2012). Reviewing the selection The way of representing the topics were interested enough and thus I believe that the discussion of all the topics are required to be likewise, so that all the students get to understand the situation carefully (Likens, 2013). At the same time, it is necessary to mention that the way of teaching carbohydrates, monosaccharide, disaccharides and polysaccharides are required to revise, so that the students feel interested enough to learn this important part (nhm.ac.uk, 2016). New perspectives I think more visual representation of these parts would encourage the students to learn more about this part. Apart from that, active participation of the students would make the classroom more attractive (nhm.ac.uk, 2016). References Assessment, W. M. E. Julius Caesar Essays (797 words) - , Term Papers

Julius Caesar Julius Caesar In Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Decius Brutus and Mark Antony, both Roman Senators, eulogize Julius Caesar, each using a different technique and approach. Brutus, in a somewhat arrogant, to the point, eulogy, attempts to sway the people. He justifies conspiring against Caesar by stating that Caesar's ambition would have hurt Rome. However, in Antony's eulogy, he focuses on Caesar's positive traits, and cunningly disproves Brutus' justification for killing Caesar. The fickle Romans waver between leaders, responding emotionally, rather than intellectually, to the orators. Brutus seeks to explain why he conspired against Caesar. He begins his speech with "Romans, countrymen ...", appealing to their consciousness as citizens of Rome, who, he later says, will benefit as freeman with Caesar's death. This shows that Brutus knows how to lure the crowd, appealing to their better judgement as Romans. He declares that he is an honorable man, and tells them that he will let them judge the validity of his claims. That is, he will allow the truth to speak for itself. This encourages the crowd to believe him, as an honorable man. He says that he wants them to know the facts; "Censure me in your wisdom, and awake your senses that you may the better judge." Sharing information with the people is flattering and it almost guarantees acceptance. He gets their sympathy by saying that he loved Caesar, daring the people to find anyone who loved Caesar more. Brutus declares that he never wronged Caesar, that he cried for Caesar's love, was happy for his greatness, honored him for his courage, but had to kill him because of Caesar's ambition. He says that the reason for killing Caesar was his great love for Rome. He justifies his actions by saying that he loved Caesar but, "Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more." He then asks rhetorically if the people would want to live their lives as slaves under Caesar's rule or would they prefer to live as freemen with Caesar dead. To anyone insulted by his speech he wonders if, as Romans who love their freedom, they could be offended or reject what he, Brutus, says. He poses the question, "Who is here so base that would be a bondman?" He stresses the point, repeating the line, "If any, speak, for him have I offended." "I pause for a reply.", allows them to respond to his rhetorical questions, giving them an even greater sense that he cares about them and their opinions. They can only respond, " None, Brutus, none." That is, none are offended, they do not disagree or argue with his words or his actions. Mark Antony's eulogy utilizes a different approach. He starts out by addressing the crowd as "Friends" because he wants to come to them as a friend rather than a ruler trying to gain power. He then says, "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.", thus he can ease in praises of Caesar without the crowd stopping him. He sounds very sincere when he says, "The noble Brutus hath told you Caesar was ambitious.... For Brutus is an honorable man." He repeats that statement three more times becoming increasingly sarcastic, saying finally, "Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and sure he was an honorable man." Since the people responded positively to Brutus' speech, Antony could not insult Brutus' honesty in a direct manner. Yet, Antony disproves Caesar's ambition with three examples. One is when he gave the ransom of captives to the public treasury and not his own, another when he cried with the poor people, and finally when he refused the kingship that Antony offered him, three times. Anyone who was ambitious would never have done any such things. Antony says, "I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke." , but that is exactly what he does. Antony is using a dramatic effect on the people, first by entering on the stage with the body of Caesar, and at the end stating that his heart is still with the body of Caesar, ending his speech weeping. In justifying Caesar and disproving Brutus, the people see Antony as a potential successor to Caesar. They are swayed to him by his dramatics, his underhanded way of making a point, his repetition, and compelling proof of Caesar's concern. He is able to get the people to question the rightness of killing Caesar. He has planted doubt in the people's minds, in all areas except that he, Antony, is, "poor soul", an honorable. The difference between the eulogies shows us the importance of style

Seascape essays

Seascape essays The photographer of Seascape, Michael Collins, effortlessly captures the true peacefulness of Mother Nature. The land, water, and sky in the photograph coincide with He portrays his photograph in a simple yet unique manner to let his viewers distinguish what they want. Collins artistic ability is shown in his works of art, especially Seascape. Within the photograph, there are a few feet of sand then the sea goes out and meets the sky in the distance. Collins formulated the surface of the land, water, and air to correspond with earths real amount. He does this by constructing the land with the least space in the picture then water as the second, and finally the sky in the picture takes up the most space. Collins made sure that there was nothing in the picture that might take away from the natural beauty of earth. Even though the seemingly frigid weather does not look as enticing as the weather in the tropics, it still makes you want to relax on the beach. The picture captures the typical view as it is gazing out at the sea. Collins uses a technique called record photography, where the purpose is to construct an image without a definite effect or meaning. The viewer is given the ability to relate to the picture in anyway possible. Since there is nothing too abstract within the photograph, it is relatively easy on the eyes. Collins does not want to capture the sun or moon because it will broaden the viewers capability to imagine what they want. The overcast makes it more difficult to distinguish if it is morning, afternoon, or evening. This adds to the bluntness Collins was trying to capture in the image. Sometimes people go to the beach and forget about the stunning view of the calm and relaxing ocean. They might forget about the astonishing view of the beach because it might have been too crowded or there were little children running around. This picture enables the viewers to make their own conc ...

Diversity Identity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words

Diversity Identity - Essay Example They are very friendly, helpful. They do not bother about religion and are highly cultured persons. I remember my first contact with different religion person when I lived in turkey and joined a French school. We soon became friends; the encounter was very pleasant as we shared our thoughts on our cultures. I was brought up in a very diverse culture, religion. So when I grew up, I learnt that there is no religion created by god, only man started religions and god is one. It is really foolish to distinguish ourselves by our religions. Religions should be teaching unity, but that is not what happening. However, there are situations in my life that make me conscious of my religion even today. The terrorist attack on America on September 11 2001 is one of the worst nightmares in my life. I can still remember my neighbors were afraid to speak to us. It was a week before when I and my friends were talking about different religions; there were two Hindu friends of mine and a Christian one. The discussion just aroused out of curiosity in knowing other religions by my friend. We talked about Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and Sikhism. These talks were very interesting as we could know the practices of different religions. As a part of our friendship, we all go to church and temple. Religion has never been a barrier for me to make friendship; I won't consider religion while making friends. So I love to make friends of any religion. I never felt like I was an outsider, as I was brought up in diverse culture, I never this sense of insecurity. Religion may affect me at my workplace, however, as I am experienced in such kind of culture, I am confident that I can tackle the situation and move forward. Interview 1: I was born in a Muslim family, my neighbors were Muslims. My family and friends all belong to the same religion. When I joined elementary school, I encountered a completely diverse group of children. However I didn't care about it at that tender age. This is a nice teaching for me as I still feel that this diverse culture had made me adaptable to any culture. My schooling was also of the same scenario. My co-workers were of different backgrounds as I work for a multinational company. It is my way of life to work with people of other religion as almost everyday I work with persons of different religions. I feel excited to work with them as they are from different cultures and there is a sort of cultural exchange among us. I don't really remember my first contact with a person of other religion. That person could be my elementary school mate. The contact should definitely be pleasant. I learned many things from people of different culture. The main thing I learned from Hindus is their readiness to accept any religion. The Christians have keen interest in studying other religions. Situations or topics like marriage make me conscious about my religion. My family wants me to marry only a Muslim boy. This makes me feel insecure and obviously is a negative experience for me. The topic of religion aroused when I and my friends were discussing on different cultures of the world. The talk was all about Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Islam. I was shocked when my Sikh friend said "it is ultimately your religious friend who will rescue you when the time arrives". There is no regular talk about it; it may arise once in a while. My friend group consists of 3 Muslims, 2 Hindus, 1 Sikh. I would love to add my friends list with different

Walmarts Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Walmarts Ethics - Essay Example Walmart is indeed a large organization with thousands of stores in the US and other parts of the world as well. It has employed millions of employees and hence increasing its fame. However, in a bid to maintain its leading retail position, Walmart has had to engage in unethical buyer power where those suffering are its employees, the suppliers as well as other businesses which Walmart has taken businesses from in a bid to continue with its reputation for lower prices. The employees’ medical benefits among other benefits are not offered to all employees even though they work excess hours without much compensation which is an indication of Walmart’s injustice and unfairness to their hard working employees. When the business continues to lower its prices and reduce the purchasing power of the suppliers in a bid to make more profit, it goes against the ethical principle of beneficence and makes small businesses close and moves the business from Americans. This is an indicat ion therefore that when Walmart uses its buyer power and reduces prices; it only benefits its stockholders but harms the rest of the people. If Walmart is to be ethical in using its buying power to reduce its prices, the profits from the reduced prices in their numerous stores would lead to the stores engaging in non-maleficence and more beneficence. It would also be fairer to the suppliers by compensating them for their efforts as well as exercising justice in the workplace about employee’s benefits and be truthful about it.

Analysis and Interpretation of the Theme - The Bagman's Father Essay

Analysis and Interpretation of the Theme - The Bagman's Father - Essay Example The play has been set at a local restaurant which has several components; the first is a cluttered and cheap restaurant where all sort of people have access to food and drinks. The second is a fine dining restaurant where only high officials and elite's approach for their recreation and finally there is a sitting room where limited people sit spend their time. This story unfolds in such a manner that it highlights the negatives that prevail in the society and the underworld where life is pretty cheap and stakes are quite high. This story is something pretty unusual but depicts the reality of the darker side of life which most of us are not aware of. The life where death is common and one is taught to "Die happy" as it is part of their fate. This play is a very good example of a suspense thriller where on each step a mystery is awaiting our protagonist that is the Bagman. Devotion and dedication to a cause can be observed as he despite all the hurdles and obstacles that come his way h e still manages to maintain the dignity of his work. He is well aware of the fact that this profession can eventually take his life but despite the fact he continues his effort irrespective of what may come his way. He knows that if he meets Avila Schond on his way to the siting room where he is going in search of Ramachadran then things will not be in his favor so taking such a bold step portrays his courage and devotion. Another thing that is very intriguing is how smart he acts throughout the play and never takes a step backs despite all the hardships that came his way. He is determined to convey the message to Mr. Ramachadran through any means even at the cost of his life. When his instincts tell him that the message might contain something that can cause his death as his teacher whom he was really attached to was killed in the same manner, he still keeps his morale high and does not give up on hope at any cost and confronts to his duty. Throughout the course of the play the wri ter has incorporated violence, fraud, deceit and the ills that prevail in such a society. But despite that the writer did not fail to incorporate emotions in the play. Although the Bagman had been a bastard and was disowned by his own father, after ages when they met even then he had a soft corner for him and despite all the grudges he has for him he still cannot hide his feelings for his father and therefore he manages to express them at some point or the other. By the end of the play the father even manages to express the love he had for his mother, â€Å"I loved your mother,† he said. â€Å"I did, Son." Another point which shows that although being raised in an environment where cheating and fraud persist the bagman still finds someone like his teacher who is his only inspiration and although he is not with him anymore he adores him and seeks his teachings and has respect for him proving to be loyal to his master. "You know them, you know their business, you know the rela tionships, but when you carry their money, you don’t know what it’s for. And when you deliver these messages, you don’t know what they say.† This explains his job and how risky things were for him and irrespective of that he had to work for them knowing that his life is at stake over there. This story has a massive portion which deals with massacre and bloodshed with the use of deadly weapons and various other ways. The end of the play leaves the protagonist injured and when he is revived and the other characters
